One drawback of Wacom tablet pens is that the rubber grip deteriorates over time, becoming slick and sticky with age. Replacing the worn rubber grip with a wooden one keeps the surface from slipping even when your hands sweat, maintaining a firm, confident feel during long work sessions. The wood grain gives the grip a visually substantial presence, yet it is actually about 40% lighter than the rubber grip — reducing strain on your fingers and hand.
Wood species: Ichii (Japanese Yew / Taxus cuspidata) Long used to craft the "shaku" — the ceremonial baton held by high-ranking court officials — the name "ichii" (一位) is said to derive from a story about Emperor Nintoku, who was so moved by the beauty of a shaku made from this wood that he granted it the title of "Shoichii" (正一位), the highest rank in the imperial court. The heartwood, which burns a vivid scarlet, is sometimes written "ichii" (一緋, meaning "first scarlet") for this reason. As a material, it is equally beautiful: the fine, evenly spaced growth rings and smooth, lustrous grain call to mind the gentle dignity of a high court official.
- As natural wood is used, grain patterns and color depth will vary between individual items.
- Small holes, dents, cracks, or dark spots inherent to the material may be present.
- The ramin wood used in this product was imported before CITES trade regulations took effect and has been upcycled from long-stored stock.
