One drawback of Wacom tablet pens is that the rubber grip deteriorates over time, becoming slick and sticky with age. Replacing the worn rubber grip with a wooden one keeps the surface from slipping even when your hands sweat, maintaining a firm, confident feel during long work sessions.

The wood grain gives the grip a visually substantial presence, yet it is actually about 40% lighter than the rubber grip — reducing strain on your fingers and hand.
Wood species: Jindai Kuri (Ancient Buried Chestnut)

"Jindai-moku" (ancient buried wood) refers to trees buried underground by volcanic eruptions and similar events. Over hundreds to thousands of years, the wood gradually transforms in color — from its original tone, through brown, to dark grey, and finally to black.

The chestnut used here is "kuro-jindai" (black buried chestnut) — a deeply blackened piece that has carbonized extensively over thousands or more years underground. The longer a piece has been buried, the more likely it is to have developed cracks and voids, making usable sections extremely rare and precious.

Chestnut is naturally strong and durable, but heavy — however, through the jindai carbonization process, its resinous components dissipate, leaving it remarkably light. As an archaeological record of Japan's Jomon-era landscape, this wood holds its own historical significance; and the deep, profound color of kuro-jindai evokes the romance of deep antiquity.

Due to the nature of buried wood, small insect holes may be present in places — but we hope you will appreciate these, too, as part of the timeless character of wood that has traveled through millennia.

The barrel shape can be customized beyond the standard profile to include wide-diameter, triangular, and hexagonal options, so you can choose the one that best suits your grip style.
